Lee Youngman Galleries

W. Jason Situ was born in 1949 in Guang Dong, China. He began painting in high school during China's "Cultural Revolution" and completed his art education at the Guangzhou Fine Arts Institute, one of China's most prestigious and competitive art academies.

In 1989, Situ immigrated to the United States with his family. He was fascinated by the beautiful California landscape and soon decided to become a Plein Aire painter. He is now a full time artist and has been active in many of the fine art events in California.

PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS:

California Art Club (Signature Member), Laguna Beach Plein Aire Painters Association, Oil Painters of America (Signature Member), San Gabriel Fine Art Association, Master Circle Member.

Situ has participated and won awards in many U.S. exhibitions, including First $7,000 Award at the 2001 Oil Painter's of America (OPA) Juried Exhibition in Palm Desert,

Honorable Mention at the Carmel Art Festival Plein Aire Competition, Third Place at the 5th Annual California Art Club Outdoor Painting Festival, and Juried Competition at Mission San Juan Capistrano. First Place at the 18th Annual Panorama Traditional Open Art Show; Second Place in the Eaton Canyon Poster Competition, and the1st Annual Laguna Beach Plein Aire Painting Invitation Competition.

Situ's most recent major awards were the Best of Show at the 2001 National Oil Painters of America Juried Competition, held in Palm Desert, California, and Best of Show in La Quinta Plein Air 2002.
