Ariana Richards
Ariana Richards possessed a love of traditional art at an early age. She attended Skidmore College to earn a B.S. Degree in Fine Art and Drama, with distinction. She continued with instruction at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, and has been mentored by some of the finest names in Contemporary Impressionist art.
Richards is influenced by the Impressionist artists, Monet, Guy Rose, and John Twachtman. She also draws inspiration from Sargent, Joaquin Sorolla, and J. W. Waterhouse.
A strong advocate for the environment, Ariana believes that art can deepen our relationship with the natural world. "If I could, I would take each viewer along to my favorite places along the seacoast or in the mountains, to the secret places of nature." Ariana speaks of her figurative work saying, "I especially enjoy painting figures out of doors because of the beautiful, transient effects of sunlight on the subject."At age 26, Ariana is an award-winning plein-air painter and winner of juried competitions in California. She is also becoming known for her portraits and figures in landscape. Ariana's paintings have been exhibited internationally.
Her publications include Southwest Art Magazine, features in American Artist Magazine and Art of the West. She is a member of the Oil Painters of America and is a Mentor Member of the California Art Club.
