Scott Prior

Scott Prior is a native of Southern California. He received his BFA from The Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA. He studied under artists, Craig Nelson, Bill Maughan and Hui Han Lui. His studies there caused him to focus on developing a solid foundation of design and drawing which create the structure for painting favorite scenes from everyday life.

Scott currently is an active member of the California Art Club and the Oil Painters of America. He has exhibited in national shows, juried competitions and invitational events across the country including the California Art Club’s Annual Gold Medal Show at the Pasadena Museum of California Art, exhibitions at the Frederick Weisman Museum of Art, the Academy Art Museum in Easton, MD, and in the prestigious Oil Painter of America National Show.

He has been awarded and recognized by Oil Painter’s of America, La Quinta Arts Foundation’s Desert Plein Air Invitational, The Society of Illustration Los Angeles, The Artist Magazine, Carmel Art Festival, and The Bower’s Museum Plein Air Show. Scott was the subject of an article “Artist to Watch” in Southwest Art Magazine and most recently was awarded the “Emerging Artist Award” by Art & Antique Magazine at the Carmel Art Festival’s Plein Air Competition.
