MEHL LAWSON, C.A.

Mehl Lawson is one of America's foremost bronze sculptors.  In the tradition of masters like Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell, Lawson has achieved in both painting and sculpture, but now devotes his time entirely sculpture, namely the subject of the American cowboy, the horse and rider.

Not only has he created works of remarkable realism, detail and authenticity, drawing from his significant experience as a horseman and trainer, Lawson has brought additional dimension to his work, a studied naturalism and scientific understanding of the horse, in the tradition of the 18th century English master George Stubbs.

Lawson was a very successful professional horse trainer before his artistic career bagman.  For that reason he has a special, even unique understanding of the relationships between man and horse.  This experience and intuitive understanding of the horse and horsemen becomes magical when he introduces these ingredients into his sculpture.

His numerous honors, commissions, exhibitions and awards, testify to this enormous popularity and recognition.  This has not, however, altered his everpresent dedication to being his own man with his own highly recognizable style and technique.

Mehl Lawson is a member of the prestigious Cowboy Artists of America (CAA)
