JASON SITU

     W. Jason Situ was born in 1949 in Guang Dong, China.  He began painting in high school during China's "Cultural Revolution" and completed his art education at the Guangzhou Fine Arts Institute, one of china's most prestigious and competitive art academies.

     In 1989, Situ immigrated to the United States with his family.  He was fascinated by the beautiful California landscape and soon decided to become a Plein Aire painter.  Now he has been a full time artist and has been active in many of the fine art events in California.

     PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS:
     California Art Club, Laguna Beach Plein Aire Painters Association, Oil Painters of America, San Gabriel Fine Art Association, Master Circle Member

     Situ has participated and won awards in many U.S. exhibitions, including Third Place at the 5th Annual California Art Club Outdoor Painting Festival and Juried Competition at Mission San Juan Capistrano, First Place at the 18th Annual Panorama Traditional Open Art Show, Second Place in the Eaton Canyon Poster Competition, 1st Annual Laguna Beach Plein Aire Painting Invititation Competition, and many others.  Situ was awarded in April of 2001, "Best of Show" at the Oil Painters of America National Juried Exhibition.  The award came with a $7,000 check.
